Nelson Roofing Ltd. is fully committed to our loss management / safety program. We strive to be the leaders in the industry by developing and implementing a first-class safety program. We believe that safety and loss management is not static, but is an evolving, dynamic program involving ongoing training, procedural reviews, and analysis. Our program contains the following components:

  • safety manual, which includes safe work procedures compliance strategies and training modules
  • Man on Rooffull pre-hire orientation touching on all main aspects of safety
  • fully functional and involved safety committee with both worker and management input
  • job site safety inspections with compliance instructions given and sanctions if required
  • company-wide safety meetings on a bi-weekly basis highlighting work procedures, general safe practices, etc
  • toolbox meetings conducted on site with job-specifc safety instruction
  • regular documented safety checks of all equipment
  • full compliance with all WCB / TDG / RCABC requirements
  • fall safety plan and hazard analysis developed for every project
  • acquiring COR recognition / safety STAR training
  • full compliance with the RCABC “No torch to wood” policy
  • usage of hand-held digital thermometers and written checklist used daily for fire prevention

Michael Danielson • Safety Coordinator

Michael Danielson Michael joined Nelson in 2006, coming out of an extensive background in the oilfield industry, in which he had a particular interest in occupational health and safety. Since joining Nelson, Michael has gained his CSABC certification in Safety Auditing and Claims Management, and also his Level 3 First Aid ticket. He is a qualified St John’s Level 1 Instructor and coordinates all aspects of Nelson’s industry-leading safety program, including orientations, safety training, ongoing inspection, claims management, and Safety Committee.  He performs detailed safety inspections on virtually every Nelson project to ensure compliance with WorkSafe BC requirements, as well as with the Nelson Roofing Loss Management program. He and his wife Sarah have two daughters and reside in Campbell River.
